On a clear day, majestic views south and east can stretch for more than 50 miles. The dramatic landscape of the Southern Highlands stirs the senses, a land of lush tea plantations, majestic peaks and rushing waterfalls. Kelbourne "Mountain View" Cottages, which date from the turn of the 19th/20th century, are three increasingly sought-after bungalows perched on a lush escarpment, less than two miles from the hill settlement of Haputale. Each cottage comes with cosy furnishings, books and magazines, and tv as well as chef and Ravi, the butler, who is always there to assist you and to prepare meals at any time of day. Sampling Sri Lankan food is highly recommended. Here is a chance to unwind in the hill country at its most serene. Facilities in Kelbourne Cottages Haputale Wildflower Cottage has three bedrooms, lounge with fireplace, dining room and three bathrooms with showers. 02 rooms with attached bathrooms and for 01 bedroom you need to cross the corridor.Rose Cottage also has three bedrooms, three bathrooms (one with bath) and lounge and dining room. Aerie Cottage, smaller but perhaps neatest of all, boasts two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one with bath tub), lounge with open fire and dining room. There is also a small restaurant in the grounds. Nearby activities can include: treks to nearby caves and waterfalls, or to Lipton's Seat, birdwatching with local guides, cultural tours (Dowa cave temples, Maligavila Buddhist statue, Haputale monastary, Adisham), train journeys and a visit to Horton Plains.
